Privacy policy

Short version: what you translate never leaves your computer. Boo translates, speaks and looks up words entirely on your PC. We don't run accounts, analytics or ads, and we don't collect your text.
What stays on your computer
- Everything you select, type or translate in Boo.
- Your saved words, flashcard progress and settings (in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Boo).
When Boo connects to the internet
- Checking for a connection: a plain network check against public DNS servers (1.1.1.1 / 8.8.8.8), sending no data.
- Downloading languages and voices: from the Argos Translate package index (GitHub) and Hugging Face, the same as any file download. Those services see your IP address, as with any website.
- Pro license checks: when you activate a key, and every few days while Pro is active, Boo sends your license key and a device label (your computer's name) to our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy, to confirm the license is valid.
When you buy Pro
Checkout is handled by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record. It processes your payment details, email address and billing country under its own privacy policy. We receive your email and order details so we can send your license and provide support. We never see your full card details.
Your choices
Uninstalling Boo asks whether to delete your local data as well. To have your purchase records deleted, email us at the support address in your purchase email.
Children
Boo collects no personal data from anyone using the app. Purchases require a payment method and are meant for adults.
